This is like 6 “Short Reviews” in a row now, isn’t it? Man, didn’t mean for THAT to happen! These chapters just haven’t had………. “That much” to them, you know? I can’t properly explain what it is that makes me decide whether or not to do a “Short Review” for a chapter; I just know that- if I don’t have all that much to say- I’m at a point in blogging that I don’t want to “stretch” a post out just to make it palpable. I have this, Chainsaw Man, One Piece this week, AND My Hero Academia. And I’ll tell you this right now: Those last 2 are getting FULL Reviews. Just too much to talk about with them. Vs this Battle chapter for a series famous for needing to get stretched for content. I don’t know what it is, but I never really have much to say about Battle chapters for this series- just a few notes and “Really Cool Fight!” I may have created this category just to have something for the series when I thought it was on break, but I have to say: It’s been working out really well for weeks like this; weeks where I just have a LOT on my plate and don’t have the time. Speaking of which, I should stop wasting it. Four Knights Of The Apocalypse Chapter 124: “Realm Of A Master.” What THAT means I’m not entirely sure………….
Nanashi’s Quest
The Main point of this chapter is that Nanashi wants to find something out through this War with Liones. He tells Lance that he wants to “see for himself” what drives people to fight a “Pointless War-” like the Holy War 3,000 years ago. He’s hoping that- in fighting for his Master- he’ll find some kind of “meaning” in a War. He lost hope 3,000 years ago, and went to hide in a far off land; he ran from battle. He doesn’t want to do that again. So maybe if he has something to fight for– He’ll Find The Will To Battle. Quite Simple.
Lance’s Magic
Remember the title of chapter 79? “Hyperion.” It was not a phrase said in the chapter, nor do we to this day know what it’s referring to. But an educated guess would be it’s the name of Lance’s magic. Because that was the chapter in which he fought Arthur. And pushed his sh!t in, I might add. It’s difficult to say what’s going on with his power, because this boy is so shrouded in mystery. But from the looks of it, it seems to have similar properties to Percival’s magic; Object construction; intense force as we see at the end of the chapter; enhanced physical strength when fighting Arthur. According to Guin, it’s “more than 4” of the 9 types that makes Hero magic. We haven’t seen him display any healing abilities or Magic Golemns; shapeshifting and heart reading is an ability inherent to Fairies; he doesn’t seem to have any sort of clairvoyance; now Stealth might fit, but he hasn’t displayed anything like that either. 2 Shy of Hero Type, but close enough for he and Percival to get along as well as they do.
Another difference: The “Source.” Percival’s magic is run by the hope others have in him; Lance’s is seemingly Self Generated. Though like I said– “SEEMINGLY;” we don’t know for sure what’s powering him. It could be that he’s just that powerful inherently, but it could also have something to do with the name “Hyperion.” Which lead me down a Rabbit hole of sorts, in which I found 3 definitions:
- A Titan, son of Uranus and Gaea, and father of the Sun God Helios, Eos, and Selene
- Helios himself
- A small, irregularly shaped satellite of Saturn having an unusual shifting orientation and rotation
I had tried to think of an explanation involving a more magical process of “Nuclear Fusion-“ a nuclear reaction in which atomic nuclei of low atomic number fuse to form a heavier nucleus with the release of energy. But then I couldn’t figure out what he was fusing to make it; I don’t think he’s anything like Gas from Dragon Ball Super and he’s “burning himself for fuel.” Though I wouldn’t rule that out……. just yet. Though looking at that last explanation; maybe he’s powered by some process rotation- some kind of process within him that’s powering him by way of “continuous rotation.” Okay, probably could have thought out that explanation a little better. Honestly I got nothin’. But I get the feeling we’re going to be learning in the coming chapters……….. probably.
